An interactive no-limit hold'em course for beginners · English & Português

Poker is a maths problem. Most courses teach it as a video.

Poker God teaches complete beginners no-limit Texas hold'em from the maths up: outs, equity, pot odds and ranges, explained in plain English before the jargon, then practised in interactive exercises until the decision is yours. Thirty-five lessons in eight sections, written for home games and casino cash games. No videos. No tournaments.

  • Follow a hand from the deal to the showdown after one evening
  • Count your outs and price every call in your head
  • Read the table by seat, stack and range instead of by your two cards
  • Run a professional's checklist before every action, and know what would change it

From US$9.99 a month. Cancel anytime and keep access to the end of your term. Lifetime option.

One of eight kinds of exercise in the course. The real thing is waiting in lesson 1.

The idea

From "Are My Cards Good?" to "Good Compared With What?"

A beginner asks one question: are my two cards good? A professional asks the same question with qualifiers attached: good from this seat, against this many opponents, at this stack depth, on this board, for this price, against this player, and given what they think I have. The course adds one qualifier per section. Each section ends with a new question added to the checklist you run in your head, and the last lesson runs the complete checklist through a single hand.

Why beginners stay beginners

Watching poker videos does not teach you to decide.

The explanations assume you already speak poker

Equity, ranges, position, 3-bet: most material uses the words before it explains them, so you nod along and learn nothing.

You understand it on the screen and forget it at the table

Watching a decision is not making one. Without practice, the lesson evaporates the moment the chips are in front of you.

One lucky river teaches you the wrong lesson

Results lie in the short run. Without the maths, a bad call that got there looks exactly like a good one.

The Poker God method

Learn the maths, make the decision, then run the checklist.

  1. Read a plain explanation with the cards in view

Every term is explained in ordinary English the first time it appears, next to the hand it describes.

  2. Make the call yourself before the answer is revealed

Each lesson has an exercise: pick the outs, drag the bet, narrow the range. You commit, then you see why.

  3. Add one question to your checklist

Each section ends with a question you add to the list you run in your head. The last lesson runs all eight through a single hand.

What you learn

Three things every winning player does, taught in order.

The price of a decision

Outs, equity, the rule of 2 and 4, pot odds and implied odds.

Exercises: pick the outs, drag the bet, read the equity table.

Your cards are only half the story

Position, raise-or-fold charts, number of opponents, stack depth and board texture.

Exercises: order the action, read the range chart, find the nuts.

Read people and bet with a purpose

Ranges, player types, bet sizing, bluffs with a reason, tells and tilt.

Exercises: narrow the range, sort the hands.

The course

Every section ends with a question you add to your checklist.

  1. 4 lessons

    How the Game Works

Goal: Follow a hand from the deal to the showdown without confusion.

The question you add: What is the best hand possible here, and do I have it?

  2. 6 lessons

Your Cards Are Only Half the Story

Goal: Replace "are my cards good?" with "are my cards good in this situation?"

The question you add: Where am I sitting, how many are in, how deep are we, and what did the board do to my hand?

  3. 3 lessons

    The Price of a Decision

Goal: Know your chances and know the price, so calling stops being a feeling.

The question you add: What are my chances, and what price am I being offered?

  4. 4 lessons

    Reading the Opponent

Goal: Stop guessing one exact hand; start reading ranges and people.

The question you add: What can they have, what kind of player is doing this, and what do they think I have?

  5. 6 lessons

    Betting With a Purpose

Goal: Every chip you put in has a reason and a plan.

The question you add: What do I want this bet (or check) to do, and what is my plan for the next card?

  6. 4 lessons

    Bluffing With a Reason

Goal: Bluffs that come from information, not from boredom.

The question you add: Can this person fold, and does the story add up, theirs and mine?

  7. 3 lessons

    The Human Game

Goal: Use the information in people without turning poker into mind-reading.

The question you add: How does the table see me, and what are they showing me without meaning to?

  8. 5 lessons

    Playing the Long Game

Goal: Make the thinking survive bad beats, boredom, and your own ego.

The question you add: Was that a good decision, whatever the result?

Questions before you start

Do I need to know the rules?

No. Section 1 covers the deal, the betting rounds and the showdown, in four lessons.

Is the maths hard?

No. It is counting cards and comparing two numbers. The rule of 2 and 4, pot odds and equity are taught with examples you can do in your head.

Why are there no videos?

Because watching is not deciding. Every lesson is a short read followed by an exercise where you make the call before the answer appears.

Does it cover tournaments?

No. The course is written for home games and casino cash games. Tournaments, solvers, heads-up and other variants are left out on purpose.

Is everything in Portuguese too?

Yes. Every lesson, exercise and email exists in English and European Portuguese. Switch at any time; your progress stays.

Can I cancel? What happens to my access?

Yes, from your account at any time. You keep access until the end of the period you paid for; nothing is revoked early.

Monthly, yearly or lifetime?

Monthly suits a quick run through the course. Yearly costs about 58% less per month. Lifetime is one payment that never renews.

Is this gambling?

No. Poker God is an educational course. There is no real-money play, no deposits and no poker room. You must be 18 or older to buy.
